Motor City Mashers NEWS & Meeting (Friday, August 4th, 2017 at 7PM – AIH Taylor ‘Call Center’)

Meeting info
There is a meeting on Friday, August 4th starting at 7PM. It will be held in our normal location, the Adventures in Homebrewing Taylor ‘Call Center’ (Mashers Meeting Hall).

Michigan Beer Cup
The Michigan Beer Cup is in desperate need for Judges. If you are willing and able to judge or steward, please sign up by Aug 9th. Judging will be held in Lansing at the Comfort Inn on August 12th and 13th. You do NOT need to be BJCP certified to judge for this competition. Sign up here.

Michigan Homebrew Festival
This is the big one Mashers; one of the best events of the year! MHF is August 16-20 at Camp Agawam in Lake Orion.
Motor City Mashers will obviously be showcasing the best beers at the festival this year, as we have in the past and will continue to do in the future. But we can’t do it without you; we need the bar filled up and have kegs on reserve, ready to go. We will have a Keg sign up sheet at the meeting.
Tickets and campsites are still available here.
By now, many of you know that our theme for our the Mashers booth is ‘The Big Lebowski’. We are in need of decoration donations… things that go with the theme or otherwise enhance our area to make us ‘pop out’ even more… holiday lights to wrap, bowling themed stuff, folgers cans, etc. Anything will be accepted (and probably used). Please bring them to the meeting, or let us know how we arrange drop off or pick up.
The Michigan Homebrew Festival Committee is looking for some assistance. They need 10 to 15 volunteers to paint and stain some parts of the Fort walls, walkways and buildings within on Wednesday, August 9th anytime after 4PM. They expect the job will take only a couple of hours to complete. Please see their post on Facebook here for details and to sign up. (Let us know that you’re going so that we can brag!)

Competition Updates
August’s tasting is Cream Ale. If you’ve brewed a Cream Ale, be sure to bring it to the meeting for a point towards the Homebrewer of the Year tally.
Additionally, Cream Ale is a competition style for the ever prestigious MCM Homebrewer of the Year Award. Entries will be due at the September meeting.
AIH Wheat Beer Competition – AIH is accepting entries beginning Friday and going through the 18th. Two labeled bottles required.
O’Connor’s Homebrew Competition – Registration is open. Entries due August 15. Details here.

Extras
Masher Gary Wilson is throwing a graduation party for his daughter, Haley, this Saturday August 5th and you’re all invited!! He’ll be roasting a giant pig to go with homebrew brewed by Kevin R, Ray, and himself. The party is happening at Sherwood Forest Campground. Check here for more details.

See you all on Friday… or else! Cheers Dudes!
